Living in Lee County

On behalf of the Lee County Chamber of Commerce

“Welcome to Lee County where truly Life Works Well Here.”

Picture
We’re excited to have the opportunity to discuss the potential for your family and business to grow and prosper with us. In recent years, we have experienced a boom in residential and commercial growth unheard of in South Georgia. We’re not surprised.

Lee County is renowned in our region for warm hospitality, resourceful leadership, state and nationally acclaimed schools, and family focused quality of life. While these amenities have brought residents here, more and more businesses are discovering that Lee County is the right “home” for them as well.

A Triple Play of a Year along with the Loss of a Gentle Giant

Leesburg and Lee County have been on The National Scene for several years now with the success of 2 of its young home grown boys. Luke Bryan, Country Music sensation for Capitol Records and recipient of several of Country Music’s most prestigious awards was the first on the scene. Then along came Buster Posey, MLB catcher for the San Francisco Giants. In 2010, Buster was named Rookie of the Year and also contributed to the Giants winning the World Series. Buster was chosen in 2012 to be the starting catcher representing the National League in Baseball’s yearly All Star Game. Then, not to be outdone by fellow Lee County Youngsters, Phillip Phillips entered the Hollywood scene this spring as its latest “American Idol”. Wow! My office has received numerous phone calls over the last few months inquiring about what’s in our water that produces such outstanding talent. Lee County’s Triple Play.

On May 26, 2012 in a far away hostile land known as Afghanistan we suffered a great loss. Lee County’s own Marine Lance Corporal Steven Sutton gave his life protecting our American Way of Life. Steve graduated from Lee County High in 2007 where he played varsity football. Although he was 6’8” in statue, he was affectionately referred to as a Gentle Giant. All hearts throughout Lee County mourned the loss of one of its own who sincerely Gave His All.

2012 will be a year to remember for many reasons the least of which is because of the construction of even more commercial investments along with the opening of our new Library & Conference Center. The Excitement Continues, so come and grow with us as we grow with you and discover that life does truly work well here in Lee County.

Please let us know how we may serve you,

Winston Oxford, President
Lee County Chamber & Development Authority
