Congratulations to Matthew Kelley; Lee County’s 2014 STAR Student! He chose Mrs. Susan Turner, as his STAR Teacher. Mrs. Turner taught Matt AP Human Geography.
The Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Department of Education sponsor the Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program. Students are selected on the basis of their SAT scores (during one test administration), class standing and scholastic averages.
On Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at The Bindery at Oakland Library, Matt and Mrs. Turner were honored at the annual “Eggs and Issues” breakfast sponsored by the Lee County Chamber of Commerce, Colony Bank, Darton State College, and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital to celebrate education in the county!
Matt is a senior at Lee County High School and is the son of Gary & Kathleen Kelley of Lee County. He plans on attending Georgia Tech. We are proud of Matt and Mrs. Turner and wish them continued success in regional and state competitions and in their future endeavors.
The featured speaker for the event was Mrs. Sylvia Vann, Lee County School Board Chairperson.
