Congratulations to Kayleigh Sullivan; Lee County’s 2012 STAR Student! She chose Mrs. Kathy Thurman, as her STAR Teacher. Mrs. Thurman taught Kayleigh AP U.S. History.
The Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Department of Education sponsor the Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program. Students are selected on the basis of their SAT scores (during one test administration), class standing and scholastic averages.
On Tuesday, February 14, 2012, at Grand Island Golf Club, Kayleigh and Mrs. Thurman were honored at the quarterly “Eggs and Issues” breakfast sponsored by the Lee County Chamber of Commerce, Darton College and Colony Bank to celebrate education in the county!
Kayleigh is a senior at Lee County High School and is the daughter of Dan and Wendy Sullivan of Lee County. She plans on attending the University of Georgia. We are proud of Kayleigh and Mrs. Thurman and wish them continued success in regional and state competitions and in their future endeavors.
The featured speaker for this event was Twila Mathews, Director of the Transitional Learning Center.
