Eggs & Issues 2011

Congratulations to Jennifer (Jenna) Grace Hegarty; Lee County’s 2011 STAR Student! She chose Mrs. Sara Martin, as her STAR Teacher. Mrs. Martin taught Jenna AP Literature/Composition.

The Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE) Foundation, the Georgia Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Department of Education sponsor the Student Teacher Achievement Recognition (STAR) program. Students are selected on the basis of their SAT scores (during one test administration), class standing and scholastic averages.

On Tuesday, February 15, 2011, at Grand Island Golf Club, Jenna Hegarty and Mrs. Sara Martin were honored at the quarterly “Eggs and Issues” breakfast sponsored by the Lee County Chamber of Commerce, Darton College and Colony Bank to celebrate education in the county!

Jenna was a senior at Lee County High School and is the daughter of Peggy Hegarty of Lee County. She has visited a number of colleges but has not made her decision on where she will attend. We are proud of Jenna and Mrs. Martin and wish them continued success in regional and state competitions and in their future endeavors.

The featured speaker for this event was Mrs. Susan Manry, the Principal at the Lee County Middle School.
